Dear Reception Parents/Carers
We are really happy that the children have all settled into school so well. They are enjoying the new experiences they are having and all beginning to understand the routines and expectations of school life.
TOPIC
Our current topic is 'All About Me' and overleaf we have included a breakdown of the next four weeks at school, taking us up to half term. We hope that this will enable you to support your child's learning at home by having conversations, finding out more and making important links between home and school. We have also included a 'Take Away Task' which is an activity to be completed together at home. You can take as long as you like to complete this and the important thing is that you can all work on it together at home.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for this topic, or if you would like to be involved (e.g. you work as a nurse etc) please complete the attached letter and we will do our best!
PE
We will be
starting PE next week when the children start full time so please make sure your child has a PE kit in school. PE days are as follows: REM Monday and Wednesday, RDV Tuesday and Wednesday. If your child wears earrings, please remember to remove them on these days.
Uniform
Every item of clothing your child wears MUST be named. The children will be encouraged to be increasingly independent during their time in Reception and without their name on their clothes this will be difficult. We always have jumpers left over at the end of the day and these will be less likely to find their way back to you if they are not named!
We are in the process of developing our outdoor provision for all Reception childre
n and this will include venturing outside in all weathers. Please make sure that your child wears appropriate clothing to school so they don't miss out on the important learning opportunities outside. This especially includes warm/waterproof coats during the winter months.
Drinks and Snacks
We have plastic cups for children to have drinks of water throughout the day and they can also bring a NAMED water bottle from home if they would prefer. Please only send water in bottles, no squash or fizzy drinks.
We will provide fruit snacks during the school day and the children have the opportunity to have these whenever they choose. Please also remember to register your child with www.coolmilk.com in order for them to have milk at school.
Reading Meeting
We are planning a meeting to support you in reading with your child at home. This is a really good way for you to play a major role in your child's learning and development, therefore we would
like as many people to attend this as possible. Please complete the slip below so we can try to arrange a time to suit most people.
If you have any concerns or queries throughout the term please feel free to come and discuss them with us. We always value your contributions and comments concerning your child's progress. Please feel free to share your thoughts with us.
Yours sincerely,
Dan Vidler & Emma Manley
