Community Links

At our school, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. We are proud to work in partnership with a wide range of local organisations — from businesses and cultural institutions to sports clubs and charities. These relationships help us to enrich our curriculum, offer real-world learning experiences, and give our children opportunities to develop important life skills. By building these connections, we aim to inspire our pupils, strengthen our community, and create lasting links that support lifelong learning.

Below are just a few examples of organisations we have worked in partnership with:'Our' Team

‘Our’ team

Working in partnership with Yeovil Town Football Club and the Community Sports Trust has been an incredible experience for our school this year. Our children have enjoyed a wide range of exciting opportunities — from player visits and workshops to stadium tours and free tickets to home games. The club has also supported our after-school provision, helping to inspire and engage pupils through sport. Being connected to such a well-respected local institution has not only brought joy to our children, but has also helped to build confidence, teamwork, and community pride. We are proud of the strong link we’ve developed and look forward to seeing it grow even further next year.

Transitions

We work closely with local secondary schools and colleges to give our children valuable insights into the next steps in their education journey. Through visits, shared projects, and transition activities, our pupils begin to understand the opportunities that lie ahead and what they can aspire to. These experiences help raise aspirations, ease the transition to secondary education, and show children how the skills they develop now can open doors in the future

Local Businesses

This year, some of our local businesses have kindly visited the school to share their experiences and talk to the children about the work they do. They spoke about their own journeys into their careers, what their roles involve day to day, and why they enjoy their jobs.

Through engaging talks and hands-on activities, our pupils got a real taste of what it’s like to work in different industries. These experiences help our children to broaden their horizons, develop aspirations, and begin to understand how the skills they’re learning now can shape their future careers.

We are very grateful to the businesses who gave their time to inspire and support our pupils — your involvement has made a lasting impact.

SPARK

SPARK are a local organisation who support and champion voluntary and community organisations to help change lives and build healthy, resilient communities.

They work to bring people together and have supported school, which is central in the Birchfield Community.

SPARK have introduced us to different partners, supported events and have become true friends of the school.

St Michaels Church

We are proud to work alongside St Michaels Church who kindly support us with ur school carol service, harvest fesitivals and many other events throughout the school year.

Yeovil & Sherborne Angling Club

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Sherborne and Yeovil Angling Club for providing our children with such a fantastic opportunity to experience fishing this year. Thanks to the time, patience, and enthusiasm of their dedicated volunteers, our pupils were able to try their hand at a completely new activity — one that many had never experienced before.

Through these sessions, the children not only learned the basics of angling but also developed important life skills such as patience, focus, and perseverance. Being outdoors and connecting with nature in such a calm and supportive setting has had a hugely positive impact on their wellbeing and confidence.

We are incredibly grateful to the club for their warm welcome, expert guidance, and for making these sessions so enjoyable. Experiences like these help to broaden horizons and create lasting memories — and we are proud to have built such a meaningful link with a valued part of our local community.

Community Groups

Over the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with a range of community groups who have brought their time, expertise, and enthusiasm into our school. These partnerships have enabled our children to take part in a variety of exciting projects that have enriched our curriculum and supported the development of key skills beyond the classroom.

From arts and sports to environmental and wellbeing initiatives, these experiences have helped our pupils grow in confidence, explore new interests, and connect with the wider world around them. We are incredibly grateful to all the organisations and volunteers who have contributed to this work — your involvement has made a real and lasting impact on our children’s learning and personal development.
