Children in our Badgers room occupy a purpose built building, with its own substantial outside area.
The Badgers room is suitable for children from 2 through to 4. The younger children benefit from a friendly atmosphere where staff focus on developing activities to meet the needs of each child and respond to their interests. There is a strong emphasis on learning through play and exploration, and staff support children with their play to ensure it is stimulating and challenging. There are also structured activities during the day, with group times for stories, singing, music and movement and individual activities with specific learning intentions.
Our older children benefit from a carefully planned play-based curriculum. This provides the children with a rich variety of activities and experiences, with a balance of formal and informal learning opportunities. "School Readiness" is supported through daily phonics activities, which include learning letter sounds. There are also lots of opportunities for children to develop their scissor and name writing skills, as well as self-help skills, such as putting on their coat.
The curriculum in the Badgers room is the same as the curriculum being delivered in the Foxes and Squirrels. The planning is completed as a team across all three settings - all our children access the same curriculum.
Our curriculum follows the government's "Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)" curriculum from birth to five years. The children will follow this curriculum through to the end of the Reception Year at school. Please click on the links below to view further information.
