Religious Education
RE is when we learn about how people’s beliefs influence their behaviour.
At Birchfield, we aim to develop children's knowledge and understanding of, and their ability to respond to, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism, as well as non-religious views. Children will explore concepts within and between faiths so that they can understand, respect and show mutual respect and tolerance of different religions, faiths, values and traditions. From learning about different concepts and faiths, we hope that our children can make reasoned and informed judgements on religious and moral issues. At Birchfield, we follow the AMV programme of study (resourced below), which allows our teachers to deliver high quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate teaching that develops our children's sense of identity and belonging: preparing them for life as citizens in a global society.
