Welcome to the Autumn Term in Year 2
We are delighted to welcome you to Year 2 and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
We have an exciting Autumn term planned and have already begun our new topic ‘What A Wonderful World’. We will be learning all about the similarities and differences between us as well as making comparisons between home and abroad. Throughout the term we will learn about rainforests, deserts and the arctic regions of the world.

Your child will be required to arrive at school on their PE day in their school PE kit. This includes trainers, a P.E shirt and black bottoms. A plain, ideally black, jumper may also be appropriate as the weather turns colder. Additionally, long hair should be tied up and jewellery removed.
Homework
As in year 1, children will continue to bring home two books every Wednesday. Please listen to your child reading the phonics book and enjoy sharing the other book together. The sharing book can be read by the child (if appropriate) or yourselves whilst your child listens and engages with the story. We ask that children read their phonics book with an adult or older sibling at least 3 times a week and record it within the child’s reading record. All children will need their reading books and reading records in school daily and home reading progress will be recorded on our Rainbow Reader with children being reward for reading at home. Inside reading records you will also find your child’s personal log in details for Numbots. This is an interactive maths game to help practice number facts and quick recall.
