Remember to check our school facebook page for regular updates.
What do we have to look forward to this term?
This term we will be learning all about The Stone Age through to the Iron Age in our History, Geography and Art lessons. We are very excited to have the opportunity to visit Stone Henge, putting lots of our classroom learning into real life. Through our learning we will be exploring how life changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age and how this is different to life today, we will also be able to place events on to a timeline in chronological order, as well as learning about the Geography of the UK.
Homework
Year Group Information:
Rewarding class behaviours and efforts
In class, the children are rewarded for excellent work, participation, for following the class rules and whole school values with house points for their house team. Teachers’ awards are celebrated weekly and count towards bronze, silver and gold badges throughout the year. Teachers awards are earnt by reaching individual reading targets and completing outstanding pieces of learning in English, Maths or Topic. Each week a pupil will be awarded the star of the week certificate for continued hard work and positive attitude towards their learning.
Attendance and Punctuality
We are continuing our focus on improving attendance and punctuality as a whole school. Our morning lessons will start promptly at 9:00am following registration at 8:55am. Please ensure that your child is at school on time as they have a morning activity to start their day.
P.E.
The children will have their PE session on a Monday this term. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their school PE kit. If your child is wearing stud earrings, they will need to take them out on a P.E. day or wear tape over them.
Reading:
The children will be reading independently in school, have daily Guided Reading Lessons, and the year 3 adults will listen to the children reading regularly. There will also be class books that are read to the children. Each week we will celebrate the children’s reading at home by checking their Reading Record Books. We ask that children read to an adult or older sibling at home three or more times a week and this is recorded by the adult in the Reading Record Book. Once children have finished a book, if they are reading Accelerated Reader books, they can take the online quiz in class. We will make sure the children can change their reading books during the school day.
Maths:
Timestables Rock Stars
A fantastic way for children to practice the times tables and compete against others is using the above website. A ‘little and often’ approach is the best way to help them secure these vital times table facts. As part of the weekly homework, we ask that the children complete 3 minutes a week on TTRS. Please let us know if you need reminding of logon and password details.
